Scheming with Color

Amy recently had an interior design consultation with Diana, our local Benjamin Moore paint retailer. She also spoke at our last Boone County Old House Forum and gave some great painting tips. Diana isn't the type to totally rip out and redo, instead she rummaged through the garage and suggested some creative uses for several pieces of "junk" that really work. They also talked about paint color schemes as we've been undecided on what color to paint the hallway and stairway. It needs to blend with all the other colors but not overpower. The color they chose was Dunmore Cream HC-29 (shown here) which ironically is very close to the original wall color. They also talked about our exterior color scheme. Diana confirmed that we were using good techniques and had the right color placement but recommended changing the Apple Brown Betty for Tawny Rose 2173-20, another color that is very similar to the original. She also recommended using an accent color Waterbury Green HC-136 (sorry, I couldn't find a color swatch online) on pieces of outdoor furniture like the kids bench. It's a similar color to tarnished copper so we're already heading that direction with the copper post caps on the fence.
