We discovered that there really is a basement in our house. Who would have known there was so much space once all the junk was gone? Some of the boxes had been sitting there since we moved in five years ago.
Here's the "after" picture of the basement. Notice how you can see the walls and floor? We spent $84 on plastic storage boxes from Wal-mart and they will be stacked against the wall, filled with clothes. The plan is to swap out summer and winter clothes in the same totes.
So what happened to all the junk? Here it is, sitting in the living room. We're sorting it into garage sale, trash and keep piles. I can live with a little chaos, knowing that 80% of it will not be coming back into the house. That's the one rule: if it doesn't sell, then it's gotta go.
