Black-Eye Please

September has to be my favorite month. One reason is that the Black-eyed Susans finally bloom. The entire north side of the house becomes a sea of yellow. After watching them grow all summer, they finally pop into brilliant color. I leave the dried stems standing out all winter too. They provide an interesting texture to a snowy landscape. But this August seems mild, I only hope it continues without heavy rains to knock down the stems.
