Last night I spent four hours helping some friends move across town. There was a moment of crisis when Robbie went to disconnect the washing machine and the hot water shutoff valve broke off. The threads were still inside the fitting and hot water pouring out onto him and the floor. They got the water shut off at the heater, then one of the other guys made a quick run home and to the hardware store. In a few minutes a new elbow and valve was soldered onto the hot water line.
I think I'm getting soft. Fortunately there were no injuries and I believe most of the stuff made it without breaking, but wow, I'm sore today.
