When I jumped on the computer this morning I heard the faint sound of dripping water behind me. So I looked around and found a water splash on the floor directly below our attic access. In the past I have discovered water in the same area but not enough to think it was anything other than drippings from kids out of the tub. It was raining and a southwestern wind blowing, so maybe the wind and a loose shingle were the culprits. But after dragging the ladder upstairs and gingerly removing the access panel my fears were confirmed. The water is seeping in around the chimney and running down the rafters, dropping onto the only place without insulation or plaster. So once the rain passes I'll be climbing up on the roof to figure out how to tighten up the roof.
