Cleaner Recipe

We've been taking advantage of the unseasonably warm weather to wash some windows. Now I know window cleaner isn't very expensive, but here's a little money saving hint: make your own! Just combine equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Then use old newsprint instead of paper towels - the soybean oils in the ink prevent streaking. Add a little elbow grease (not available in stores) and you've got sparkling windows. Let the sun shine in...

  1. Also helps to add a couple drops of dishwashing liquid.

Then, dilute your mixture another 10 or so times with water, and you have a great concoction for spiffing up sealed hardwoods.

  2. My Nana taught me to use vinegar and newspaper for windows, and I couldn't believe how great it worked. Plus, no crazy blue dyes and fake fragrances to worry about. Love it.

I started going with nothing but vinegar, ammonia, and bleach (not together!) for cleaning most surfaces. So much more efficient than having 20 seperate "special" cleaning products hanging around the house, and just as effective for most cases.
