Yesterday marked the official beginning of summer, I changed out the window storms for screens. It's not a difficult job, but who likes to clean windows. We used a homemade window cleaner (water and vinegar) mixed in an old spray bottle. Add a little elbow grease and the windows are clean and sparkling.
Our storms hang from window hangers but the screens only cover the bottom half and are held in place with turn buttons on the inside. This summer's ongoing project will be the sanding, painting and rebuilding of all the windows. I'll need to make new storms and screens and am debating about the best way to construct them. Anybody know of some good documentation on how to reconstruct them accurately? Everyone I know says to just buy aluminum replacements.
